Astra is one of the more unfortunate T-Dolls who, while not awful, just generally will not see much use. Her tile buffs -- while serviceable -- are outclassed by many other units, her Skill is passable but ends up outperformed in most cases, and her tanking abilities are outpaced by her contemporaries. The only incentive to using Astra is she is fairly easy to obtain, but considering there are 2 star HGs that outclass her, this is not a convincing reason to include her in an Echelon. Although she’s far from the worst HG in the game, considering that Handguns in general require heavy investment to reach their full potential, it’s arguable whether Astra is worth that investment. Although she’s okay, she’s not great, making her impractical when other HG options are available.
Relatively High HP
Amongst Handguns, Astra has a notably higher HP than most. Of the 3 star Handguns, she is currently only beat out by Tokarev and C96.
Decent Tile Buffs
While Astra’s buff is by far definitely not the most notable, RoF is always helpful for RFs. Her Evasion buff -- while offering a negligible boost -- can still make a difference.
Astra’s Skill gives a good boost to RoF, and as such makes her a valuable teammate in RF+HG Echelons.
Poor Tile Placement
Astra prefers not to be a Main tank, however her Tile placement practically demands her to be front and center to make effective use of it.
Astra has pretty awful Evasion for a Handgun. This is an especially notable weakness since she must be in center stage to provide her buffs optimally.
There are many, many better options that fill the same or similar role when compared to Astra. This includes T-Dolls that are even more accessible than her like PPK.
Astra is a mediocre Handgun with low-to-average stats -- with only one exception, her HP. She has 33 Damage, 45 Accuracy, 68 Evasion, 52 RoF, and 400 Health at max link, and with these stats, Astra will not be dealing significant Damage, nor will she be tanking well. The last saving grace for her would be if she was an excellent buffer, but unfortunately for Astra, her buffs are not enough to make her excellent.
Astra’s tile buffs are 4 spaces diagonally around her that give 20% RoF and 20% Evasion. It’s an awkward layout to say the least, and will not provide more than two buffs in most standard formations -- which would further require Astra to perform as a Main tank, which she cannot effectively do. As an Offtank of Support unit in a standard formation, Astra will -- more often than not -- be buffing only one other unit. Compared to other HGs who can buff at least three teammates at once, it’s easy to see how Astra’s strengths are limited.
As stated previously, to get the most out of her tile buffs, Astra needs to be front and center. This will often deprive a formation of more useful tile buffs, and it also means there will need to be another T-Doll present who can swap positions with her to tank.
Furthermore, Astra’s skill is fairly mediocre as well. A simple 20% buff to RoF for all units isn’t unusable, but it isn’t stellar. Obviously this buff is for assisting in damage dealing and it does the job well enough, however most other T-Dolls with Skills meant to serve a similar purpose outclass this Skill significantly.
So overall, Astra is rather average at best with few practical applications that couldn’t be filled by better units. She’s not terrible, and can be helpful on RF teams when building on a budget, but if better options are available, it’s not advisable to invest significant resources into her. As such, she should only be used early on, and replaced as soon as possible.
Consistent DPS RFs
Since Astra increases RoF, her buff is best for RFs -- MGs have little use for RoF buffs, and ARs generally prefer Damage and/or Crit buffs. RFs like M14, WA2000, and SVD benefit well from what Astra has to offer.
Tanky HGs and SMGs
Since Astra cannot tank effectively, she performs best in an Echelon that includes those who can. Examples include HGs such as PPK, Five Seven, and Makarov, and SMGs such as IDW, FMG-9, UMP45
This formation applies Astra’s buff to the main DPS while also letting the formation have extra time to attack. The only significant disadvantage is Astra will have to move at the start of every battle in order to switch with a unit who can tank.
Astra 357 is a Spanish double action revolver. It can be chambered for either .357 Magnum or .38 special. It was made in various barrel lengths, from the almost snubnose 7.6cm barrel to the rather long 21.6cm barrel.
